tock

Privacy Policy

Effective October 15, 2026

tock is a Mac app for focusing on one task at a time. It is made and run by Sangmin, an individual developer based in South Korea. This policy explains what tock collects, why, where it is stored, and how to have it deleted. Questions: hello@gettock.com.

What we collect

Your tasks

When you use tock, the app creates an account for you automatically, without asking for an email. It is identified by a random ID. Your tasks are saved to that account so they are not lost: the title, the date you planned it for, repeat settings, time spent, and when you started and finished it.

Email and password (only if you add them)

If you add an email to keep your history or use tock on another Mac, we store your email address and a password. Passwords are stored hashed, not in plain text. We use your email to send sign-in codes. We do not send newsletters or marketing email.

Usage data

To learn whether people actually use tock, the app sends a few events: when the app is opened, when a task is started, when a task is finished (with the number of minutes), and when you sign in or add an email. Each event comes with the app version, your macOS version, a random ID for this install, and an approximate location (country and city) worked out from your IP address. Task titles are never sent with usage data. The app does not record your screen or what you click.

On gettock.com we record page visits, clicks, which site you came from, and your browser type.

What stays on your Mac

Settings such as sounds, the keyboard shortcut and check-in reminders are stored only on your Mac.

Messages you send us

If you email us or use Send feedback in the app, we keep your message and, if you give one, your email address so we can reply. Feedback from the app also includes your tock and macOS versions.

Why we use it

We do not sell your data and we do not show ads.

Who stores it

We use these services to run tock. Your data is sent to them over an encrypted connection when you use the app or the website.

Because these services are outside South Korea, using tock means your data is transferred to and stored in the countries above. If you do not agree, you can use tock without an email, or stop using it and ask us to delete your data.

How long we keep it

Deleting your data

To delete your account and tasks, email hello@gettock.com from the address on your account. We delete it within 30 days. If you never added an email, your account is linked only to a random ID. Write to us from the Mac you use tock on and we will help you find and delete it. Signing out in tock removes your tasks from your Mac.

Your rights

You can ask to see, correct, export or delete your data, or ask us to stop using it. Email us and we will answer within 30 days. If you are in the EU or UK, you can also complain to your local data protection authority. In South Korea, you can contact the Personal Information Protection Commission (privacy.go.kr).

Children

tock is not intended for children under 14, and we do not knowingly collect their data.

Security

Data is sent over encrypted connections. Each account can only read its own tasks.

Changes

If we change this policy, we will update it on this page and change the date above. For important changes, we will tell you in the app.
